Submission Guidelines
 
 

Please follow these submission specifications:
  • Only sermons and articles by African American ministers and laity will be published.
  • Submission of material to The African American Pulpit assumes the right of Hope for Life International, Inc. to publish the material in The African American Pulpit and on its website. Submission of materials implies permission to Hope for Life to publish the material.
  • All manuscripts submitted for publication to The African American Pulpit are subject to editorial revision (grammar, punctuation, conformity with house style, and length).
  • Only original work will be considered.
The following are some specifics to remember:
  • Manuscripts should be submitted via e-mail to mcgoeyeditor@comcast.net.
  • Sermons should not exceed 2,500 words. Articles should not exceed 900 words.
  • When a Scripture verse is quoted or paraphrased, specify chapter, verses, and version used.
  • Sources of direct quotations must be cited with full publishing information: author, title, place of publication, publisher, year of publication, and page number(s) of quoted material. For periodicals, include author, title of article, name of periodical, date, volume and number if applicable, and page number(s).
  • Permission from the copyright holder is needed for any quote of significant length and for any music or poetry that is not in public domain.
  • Include your complete contact information (mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address) with the submission, as well as your color photograph (at least 300 DPI, at least 2 inches in width, and in a TIFF or JPEG format). The photograph must be in color.

You've got to want to see God, talk with him, walk with him, want him to talk with you, to speak with you during the course of your week. You've got to have a desire to hear God speaking to you when the preacher ain't talking, when the Sunday school teacher is not teaching.
